To the people who salt the streets when it snows:

I want to thank the people who salt the streets and sidewalks when it snows.

Did you know they get up at 3 AM to do so?

Have you ever thought what would happen

to you

if they didn’t do their job?

I wouldn’t make it to school in the winter

My roommate wouldn’t make it to work

Your kids would slip and scratch their knees

They get up early to do their job

to help you

to help me

to help people they don’t know

and probably won’t ever know.

What a beautiful thing

to give of yourself to someone you haven’t met

to someone who might not appreciate what you do

This reminds me of the Savior.

Someone who gave of Himself infinitely.

to people who haven't seen or heard of Him

to people who would not care for Him

to people who would kill Him.

But He gave of Himself

He still gives of Himself

To everyone, everyday.

Because He loves us.

Because He knows there are many who appreciate Him

Who want what He gives

and will change

Because of who He is and what He did.

I am so grateful for His gift.

I am so grateful He keeps giving.

I am nothing without Him.

And I am so grateful for those who put salt the snow.

Because in a small way,

I am nothing without them, either.
